Best Social Media Marketing Agencies in India (2026 Picks)

·2026-08-14·16 min read
Editorial diagram on a near-black canvas headed 'Social media agencies in India' with the line 'Most retainers stop at reach. The brief should end at revenue.' and a brand-red INDIA chip. On the left, a white phone outline labelled THE FEED holds three off-white feed cards marked POST, REEL and TEXT. A brand-red arrow labelled MEASURED points right to three stacked cards: an off-white REACH card reading 'Who saw it', an off-white TRUST card reading 'Who believed it', and a brand-red LEADS card reading 'Who enquired'.

Social media is the line item most Indian businesses spend on for the longest before asking what it returned. Search advertising gets audited quarterly because the money leaves the account visibly. SEO gets questioned because rankings are checkable. Social gets a monthly deck full of reach, impressions, and follower growth, and it survives review after review without anyone establishing whether it produced a single customer.

That is not because social does not work. It is because most social retainers in India are scoped as a production service rather than a marketing one. You are buying twelve posts, four reels, and a story calendar. You are not buying a hypothesis about who should see them and what should happen next. When the deliverable is volume, the reporting becomes volume too, and everyone stays busy on numbers that never touch the P&L.

The market makes this hard to fix. Search "social media marketing agency India" and you get agency homepages, directory listings, and a stack of interchangeable "top 10" posts written by the agencies inside them. Almost none tell you what any of these firms are actually good at, and none tell you the one thing that separates a good social partner from an expensive one: whether they can connect what gets posted to what gets bought.

Something else changed in the last two years that most retainers have not priced in. Social is no longer just a distribution channel; it is now a major input into the AI assistants your buyers use instead of searching. When someone asks ChatGPT or Perplexity for the best brand in your category, the answer is assembled partly from Reddit threads, YouTube transcripts, LinkedIn posts, and creator commentary. A brand that posts beautiful carousels and nothing textual is invisible to that layer, because an image is not retrievable text.

This guide is built to help you buy well against both realities. It gives you an eight-factor scorecard for evaluating any agency running social for an Indian brand in 2026, names the agencies worth shortlisting, maps each to the brief it genuinely fits, and shows what retainers actually cost across metro tiers. We run social media marketing for brands ourselves, with a particular edge on tying social to search demand and AI visibility, and we will show you exactly where that edge decides an account.

How We Evaluated the Agencies

Eight factors. Each one is something you can verify in a first call, and each one has separated a good engagement from a disappointing one in accounts we have inherited.

1. Content engine, not content calendar. A calendar is a schedule. An engine is a repeatable system that produces on-brand work at volume without the founder becoming the bottleneck: formats that are defined, a shoot or design cadence that is planned, and a review loop that does not collapse in the last week of the month. Ask to see the production workflow, not the grid.

2. Paid and organic under one roof. On Indian accounts, the biggest single win is usually not better content or better bidding. It is the two being briefed together, so the creative that earns organic saves and shares becomes the creative you put budget behind. Agencies that split these into two scopes usually produce ads that look nothing like the brand's best-performing posts. See how we think about this on the Meta ads side.

3. Measurement past the platform dashboard. Every agency can screenshot Meta Business Suite. The question is whether GA4, UTM discipline, and lead-source capture exist before the first post goes out, and whether anyone can tell you what a social-sourced enquiry is worth. If the answer arrives as "engagement rate", you are buying reporting, not measurement.

4. Category and language fit. India is not one audience. Regional-language creative, festival calendars, and category norms matter more here than in most markets, and a team that has only produced English-first metro content will struggle in Tier-2 and Tier-3 demand. Ask which languages they have shipped in, and look at the work rather than the claim.

5. Verifiable track record. Named clients, retained relationships longer than a year, and third-party review standing on platforms like Clutch that verify projects through interviews. Awards are pleasant. A three-year retention with a brand in your category tells you more.

6. Creative range against your actual need. Static design, short-form video, long-form video, influencer coordination, and community management are five different capabilities. Most agencies are strong at two of them. Decide which two your brand needs before you look at anyone's showreel, because a showreel is designed to make you want the ones you do not need.

7. Named senior ownership. Who is on your account after the pitch? In social specifically, the gap between the person who presented the strategy and the person who executes it is the single most common cause of quality decay in month three. Ask for the name, the seniority, and the number of other accounts that person carries.

8. AI-visibility awareness. Does the agency understand that social now feeds AI answers, and can they name which surfaces matter and why? In 2026 this is a genuine differentiator, and the honest position is that most social agencies have not caught up. We have written the full argument in our guide to ranking in AI Overviews and in answer engine optimization.

The Best Social Media Marketing Agencies in India (2026)

Eight agencies, each mapped to the brief it genuinely fits. Read the mapping rather than the order, because the right answer changes completely depending on whether your problem is production, distribution, or measurement.

1. Nico Digital - best for social that has to be accountable to revenue

Best for: D2C, B2B, fintech, and services brands that already have decent content and cannot tell whether any of it is working.

We came to social from the search and performance side, which shapes how we scope it. Content and paid social are briefed as one engine rather than two retainers, tracking is configured before the first post ships, and the reporting line we care about is enquiries and pipeline rather than reach. The second thing we bring is the AI-visibility layer: we build social presence so it is retrievable and quotable by assistants, not only scrollable, which is why our social work connects directly to our AI SEO and answer engine optimization practices. Where we are not the right call: if you want a purely brand-led creative campaign with television-grade production and no performance mandate, a creative shop will serve you better.

2. VML - best for enterprise brands that need a global network

Best for: large advertisers running multi-market campaigns who need creative, commerce, and social inside one procurement-approved network.

VML is WPP's creative, commerce, and experience network, formed from the merger of Wunderman Thompson and VMLY&R, with substantial Indian offices. What you buy is scale and governance: global brand consistency, integrated commerce and CRM capability, and teams accustomed to enterprise compliance. What you trade is speed and cost. Network engagements carry more layers than a specialist retainer, and mid-market brands frequently find the process heavier than the problem warranted.

3. Schbang - best for high-production, video-led consumer creative

Best for: FMCG, entertainment, and consumer-tech brands whose social problem is that the work does not look good enough.

Schbang positions itself as a creative, media, and technology agency, and its production capability - including a dedicated motion-pictures arm - is the reason to hire it. If your category is won on craft, and you need social video that stands next to a broadcast campaign, this is the tier of output you are shopping for. It is a genuine creative agency, so expect a creative agency's economics and a creative agency's relationship with performance measurement.

4. Kinnect - best for always-on social at brand scale

Best for: established brands across lifestyle, healthcare, finance, and retail that need consistent daily output across many handles.

Kinnect is one of the larger social-first agencies in the country, built for always-on programmes rather than campaign bursts. The strength is throughput and category range, including regulated verticals where approval workflows matter as much as ideas. The consideration is the one that applies to every large shop: ask specifically who sits on your account day to day, because scale is what you are buying and scale is also what dilutes attention.

5. Chimp&z Inc - best for brand-building and performance from one team

Best for: growth-stage brands that need creative quality without giving up on measurable outcomes.

Chimp&z Inc is a digital agency with Indian roots and international work, offering social media marketing, branding, and performance advertising together. It sits in a genuinely useful middle position: more creative range than a pure performance shop, more performance discipline than a pure creative shop. Test the middle claim rather than assuming it - ask which side of the house leads on strategy, because the answer tells you which discipline actually sets the agenda.

6. Matrix Bricks - best for social management plus reputation work

Best for: brands in Mumbai and the west whose social problem overlaps with what shows up when someone searches their name.

Matrix Bricks lists social media management, digital branding, and online reputation management as its core services, and carries strong verified review standing on Clutch. That combination is more useful than it sounds: for a lot of Indian businesses, the social brief and the branded-search brief are the same brief. If that describes you, read our guide to brand SERP defense before you write the scope.

7. EvenDigit - best for mid-market social on a Tier-2 cost base

Best for: businesses that want competent multi-channel work without a metro retainer.

EvenDigit is Indore-based, carries one of the deeper verified review histories among Indian agencies on Clutch, and pairs social with SEO and paid media. The value proposition is straightforward: a Tier-2 cost base for work that would be priced 25-35% higher in Mumbai or Delhi NCR. The trade-off is production ceiling. For high-craft video and creator-heavy campaigns, a metro creative shop still has more range.

Best for: brands that want social managed by the same team handling Google Ads and SEO.

Hyderabad-based, with social media management, social advertising, SEO, and Google Ads in one house. That integration is the reason to shortlist them: for lead-generation businesses, the handoff between paid social and paid search is where a lot of budget quietly leaks, and having both in one team removes the excuse. Compare against our own PPC services scope if you are weighing an integrated approach.

A note on how this list was built. Every agency here is described by its publicly stated specialisation and, where relevant, its verified review standing on third-party platforms. We have not invented client names or outcome metrics for anyone, including ourselves. If you want the wider view across disciplines, our best digital marketing companies in India roundup covers agencies outside social.

Where Nico Digital Fits

We are not the right agency for every social brief, and the honest map is short.

Hire us when social has to be accountable. If you are already producing content and cannot tell whether it generates enquiries, that is a measurement and integration problem, and it is the problem we are built for. We configure tracking first, brief paid and organic as one engine, and report on pipeline contribution rather than reach.

Hire us when your buyers have started asking AI assistants instead of searching. This is now most B2B categories and a growing share of considered consumer purchases. Social presence that is textual, quotable, and consistent is what makes a brand recommendable in those answers, and almost nobody is scoping for it yet. Our AI citation tracking work and our 90-day AI citation study explain how we measure it.

Hire us when social sits next to search in the same funnel. Most of our accounts run SEO and social together, because the same buyer research shows up in both, and the same content investment can serve both if it is planned that way rather than duplicated.

Do not hire us for pure brand campaigns with no performance mandate, for television-grade production as the primary deliverable, or for community management as a standalone service with no strategy attached. Those are real needs and other firms on this list serve them better.

The 2026 Shift Most Social Retainers Have Not Priced In

Here is the change worth understanding properly, because it reframes what social is for.

When a buyer asks an AI assistant which brand to choose in your category, the assistant does not consult your Instagram grid. It assembles an answer from text it can retrieve and quote: forum discussions, video transcripts, professional-network posts, editorial coverage, and the commentary that surrounds all of it. Social platforms are enormously represented in that pool - but only the textual, indexable parts of them.

This produces an outcome that surprises marketing teams. A brand can have 200,000 Instagram followers and near-zero presence in AI answers, while a competitor with a tenth of the audience gets named consistently because its founder writes on LinkedIn, its category is discussed on Reddit with the brand mentioned by name, and its YouTube videos carry proper transcripts and descriptions.

Three implications for how you scope social in 2026:

Text is a social deliverable now. Captions, thread posts, transcripts, video descriptions, and long-form professional-network writing are not overhead attached to the visual work. They are the part of social that machines can actually read. An agency producing only images and short video is producing the half that AI cannot use.

Community surfaces matter disproportionately. Discussion platforms carry weight in AI retrieval far beyond their traffic share, because they read as authentic peer opinion. That has to be earned through genuine participation rather than posted into - we have written the full method in our Reddit SEO and link building guide.

Video is a text channel too. A YouTube video with a clean transcript and a real description is retrievable. The same video posted with three hashtags and no description is not. Our guide to AI tools for YouTube video production covers the production side; the retrievability side is a five-minute discipline that most teams skip.

When you interview agencies, ask the AI-visibility question directly and listen for whether the answer is specific. "We are on top of AI" is not an answer. Naming which surfaces feed retrieval, and what they would change in your content mix as a result, is.

What Social Media Management Costs in India

Retainers vary more by production scope and metro tier than by agency reputation, which is why quoted ranges look so wide. Three bands cover almost the whole market.

Basic management - Rs 15,000 to 40,000 per month. Content calendar, static and light motion design, scheduling, and community replies. Usually a small studio or a freelancer with support. Appropriate for local businesses and early-stage brands that need consistency more than strategy. What you should not expect at this level: original video production, paid social operations, or measurement past platform dashboards.

Full retainer - Rs 50,000 to 1,50,000 per month. Strategy, a real content engine with defined formats, short-form video production, community management, and paid social operations with conversion tracking. This is where most serious mid-market programmes sit, and it is the band where the eight-factor scorecard actually discriminates between agencies charging similar money for very different capability.

Brand-scale - Rs 2,00,000 and up. Always-on programmes with high-end video, influencer coordination, multi-market or multi-language work, and dedicated senior ownership. Large consumer brands and network engagements routinely run past Rs 5,00,000.

Metro tier shifts every band. Mumbai and Delhi NCR sit at the top because agency salaries there set retainer floors. Bangalore, Pune, and Hyderabad run roughly 10-20% below. Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Indore, and Jaipur run 25-35% below for comparable scope - which is exactly why Tier-2 agencies compete effectively for mid-market national accounts.

Three costs sit outside the retainer, and confusion about them causes more disputes than anything else in social contracts. Media spend goes to Meta, Google, or LinkedIn directly and is yours, not the agency's. Influencer and creator fees are separate, and should be transparent rather than marked up silently - our guides to hiring an influencer marketing agency and micro-influencer marketing in India cover how those fees actually work. Shoot production - locations, talent, equipment, editing beyond the retainer allowance - is usually quoted per project.

Platform by Platform: Where Indian Budgets Actually Belong

The platform mix question gets answered by habit far too often. Here is the allocation logic that holds up across the accounts we see.

PlatformPrimary jobBest forWatch out for
InstagramBrand consideration, product discovery, creator collaborationD2C, fashion, beauty, food, hospitality, local servicesVanity metrics; a strong grid with no textual footprint is invisible to AI assistants
YouTubeDeep consideration, evergreen search demand, AI-retrievable transcriptsConsidered purchases, B2B, education, healthcare, SaaSProduction cost; and skipping transcripts and descriptions, which is where the durable value sits
LinkedInCategory authority, founder-led credibility, B2B pipelineB2B, fintech, professional services, recruitmentCorporate-page-only posting; the reach lives with people, not logos
FacebookReach at low cost, community groups, regional and Tier-2 audiencesLocal business, real estate, education, mass-market retailAssuming it is dead; in Tier-2 and Tier-3 India it is frequently the cheapest qualified reach available
WhatsAppRetention, conversational commerce, post-purchaseEcommerce, D2C, local services, educationTreating it as a broadcast channel and burning the opt-in list
Reddit and forumsPeer credibility, and heavy weight in AI answer retrievalSoftware, finance, health, travel, anything researched before purchasePosting like a brand; the surface punishes promotion and rewards participation
XReal-time commentary, media and tech visibilityMedia, tech, public-facing foundersVolume without a point of view; also see our take on the X rebrand

Two practical rules follow from that table. First, pick two platforms to win and one to maintain; brands that spread thin across five produce mediocrity on all of them. Second, weight your choice by where your category is researched, not by where your competitors post. For B2B brands that usually means LinkedIn and YouTube; for D2C it usually means Instagram plus WhatsApp retention, with our Instagram marketing fundamentals and WhatsApp channels guides covering each in depth. If your programme leans B2B, the LinkedIn ads playbook covers the paid side properly.

Six Questions That Separate a Real Shortlist

Ask every agency these. The answers sort a shortlist faster than any deck.

"Who is on my account after we sign, and what else do they run?" You are looking for a named person, a seniority level, and an honest account load. Vagueness here predicts month-three quality decay more reliably than any other signal.

"Show me a live account structure and the conversion event it optimises toward." Not a case study - a live account, screen-shared. If the optimisation event is reach or engagement, you have found a content team running ads.

"What would you stop doing in our current social if you took over?" A good agency has opinions about subtraction. An agency that only wants to add deliverables is selling volume.

"How will we know in ninety days whether this is working?" The answer should include a leading indicator that moves early, such as qualified enquiry volume or branded-search lift, not just a promise of a quarterly review.

"Which AI assistants currently describe our brand, and what do they say?" Most agencies will not have checked. The ones that have, and can tell you where the description came from, are working from a 2026 model of the channel.

"What is your fee, and what sits outside it?" Get media spend, creator fees, and production charges separated in writing before signing. This one line prevents most social-contract disputes.

Red Flags

Seven things that should end a conversation.

Guaranteed follower counts or promised viral reach. Nobody controls distribution that precisely, and the ones who promise it are usually buying audience.

Portfolios made entirely of engagement screenshots. Reach without a business outcome attached is a screenshot of activity, not evidence of results.

A month's content arriving for approval on the last working day. That is a batch-produced calendar, not a strategy, and the quality gap is visible within two cycles.

Ads run inside the agency's own Meta Business account. You should own the ad account, the pixel, and the audience data, with the agency granted access under your ownership. Otherwise you lose everything you paid to build the day the relationship ends.

One junior handling strategy, design, copy, community, and paid. That is five jobs. It is also the most common staffing model at the bottom of the market, and it is why cheap retainers stay cheap.

Reporting with no line connecting to enquiries or revenue. If the deck would look identical for a competitor in a different category, it is not reporting on your business.

A proposal that never asks what a customer is worth to you. An agency that does not ask about unit economics cannot optimise toward them, and everything downstream of that gap is guesswork dressed as strategy.

The Metrics Worth Reporting

Replace the standard deck with four questions, in this order.

Did qualified enquiries from social change? Not clicks. Enquiries that a salesperson would recognise as real, tagged by source at the point of capture. This requires UTM discipline and a lead-source field, which is why measurement setup belongs before the first post rather than after the first quarterly review.

Did branded search volume move? Social's most reliable second-order effect is people searching for you by name afterwards. It shows up in Search Console within a few months and it is much harder to fake than engagement. Our guide to measuring zero-click search covers how to read this properly when the click never happens.

Is the brand being described accurately by AI assistants? Ask the major assistants your own category questions monthly and record whether you appear and how you are characterised. It takes fifteen minutes and it is the single most useful new metric of the last two years.

What did it cost per qualified enquiry, all in? Retainer plus media plus creator fees plus production, divided by qualified enquiries. It is a blunt number and it will look bad in month one. It is also the only figure that lets you compare social honestly against search advertising or SEO when the budget conversation comes around.

Closing Note

The gap between a good social agency and an expensive one in India is rarely creative talent. There is an enormous amount of it here, and most of the agencies on this list have more of it than they get credit for. The gap is whether anyone connected the work to a business outcome, and whether the scope caught up to a channel that now feeds AI answers as much as it feeds feeds.

Use the eight-factor scorecard on whoever you are considering, including us. Score each factor one to five. Below 28 out of 40, keep looking - and pay particular attention to factors three and eight, because measurement and AI visibility are where the widest capability gaps sit in this market right now.

If you want a view of where your brand currently stands - what social is actually contributing, and how AI assistants describe you today - talk to us. We will show you the gaps whether or not you end up hiring us. For the broader agency-selection question across disciplines, our guide to choosing the best SEO agency in India applies the same lens to search.
